Larry got his bike all fixed up the other day, and now I'm itching to get riding! I'm still on the hunt for an awesome (& cheap!) road bike to use... I've been checking Craigslist every few days to get a feel for what's out there. I'm pretty clueless when it comes to cycling, so I'm definitely going to need some help picking something out. I'm looking for a used bike that I can customize with my own grip tape and accessories; hopefully it will be cheaper than buying something new. I'm thinking that I might sell my current bike; it's awesome, but I'm thinking that three gears probably isn't going to cut it for the type of riding I'll be doing in the coming months. I don't see it being practical to own more than one bicycle, so it's gotta go!
I'm going to be crazy busy this month (going back to school, playing varsity softball, training for and running a 5k, etc). so I'm thinking that we've really got to sit down this weekend and iron out our fundraising plan. I want to get the bulk of everything done before Christmas, so that we're not scrambling for funds in the new year.
My tentative goals for the weekend:
- Write up donation letters for prospective donors
- Create graphics and literature for bottle drive
- Contact friends & family; ask for volunteers for yard sale
- Nail down location for sale; continue to solicit donations
- Get in at least one indoor/outdoor cycling workout
- Send out e-mails asking for cash donations
Yeah, these are small tasks, but I'd like to get them out of the way before I'm ridiculously busy with school stuff!
xoxo
Amanda
