Hockey Pool!!!!!!!!!

ok well, hockey season has started.

we have about 25 teams. and everyone has committed to a $20 donation...... a quick calculation shows that we have raised about $500 just from our Hockey Pool.

AMAZING. im sure if i had more time i could have gotten more people, but still $500 is amazing considering the work that i have to do, putting the player list together for the selection process was the hardest part.

anyway, i am going to try to keep this updated a little more frequently. it has been on the back burner for a couple weeks now.

THANKS for your Support!

YARD SALE, THIS SATURDAY!

Well, folks, our charity yard sale is happening this Saturday at 9am! I'd like to extend a HUGE thank you to everyone who has donated thus far; your support is greatly appreciated! :)

For those of you who are interested in coming out this weekend, we've decided to hold the sale at Larry's house in Richmond Hill. I know it's a little out of the way for those of you who don't drive, but it ended up being the easiest option for those of us who were organizing. If the only thing stopping you from coming on Saturday is a ride, talk to us! We'll definitely try to make some sort of accommodation!

WHAT: Yard Sale for the Ride to Conquer Cancer (& free bbq for volunteers!)
WHEN: Saturday, October 2, 9am-3pm
WHERE: Larry's house (72 Stave Cres, Richmond Hill, ON, L4C 9J5)

Are you interested in volunteering? We could definitely use some help Friday night helping to load/unload boxes, sorting through books (we have hundreds that were donated to the cause, and they need to be organized), putting up signs in the area, etc.

On Saturday, we could use a few people to help with set-up and take-down, wrap up glass items, help customers carry things to their cars, etc.

If nothing else, come out for the free food! Do you have any questions, or want to volunteer? Drop me a line, and we can chat!

Thanks again, everyone. The support we've received so far has been overwhelmingly positive, and we truly appreciate it.

Hope to see you there on Saturday! :D

We want your bottles!

Just a reminder that we're still looking for bottle donations for our ongoing bottle drive. Don't recycle your empties, folks; we will gladly take them off your hands!

What We Need:
- beer/cooler bottles
- wine bottles
- regular sized or tall-boy beer cans
- liquor bottles of all sizes

Saving your empties is an easy way to contribute to a great cause, and the only thing you have to do is give us a call or drop us an e-mail.  We will drive out to pick up your bottles, and even provide you with cardboard boxes if you need them.

We'll be collecting bottles from now through May 2011, and any donations worth more than $10 will get a tax receipt.

Talk about a win-win situation - you are helping to fund cancer research, you don't have to do any work, and you even get a tax receipt that could increase your refund next year.  Pretty nifty, eh?

HOCKEY POOL

i set up the hockey pool.....

we are looking for a minimum of $20 registration donation, but to make it fair for both of us i want you to donate at least $10 to each of our pledges and in your Personal Notes include the Name of your Fantasy pool team Name......

if you would like to join the hockey pool please go to
www.conquercancer.ca/goto/larryd85
and
www.conquercancer.ca/goto/amandajoy

The Link to donate is clearly displayed on the above links' pages. if you do not have a credit card, or do not want to do an online transaction please talk to me and we can arrange other payment options.

as soon as i see that you have made the donations i will set up the team in the pool and you will receive an e-mail with log in information.

The teams will be 26 players, 15 forwards, 8 Defence, and 3 Goalies. I have put together a list of player names, to make it easier to pick good players, and to even the pool out so that inexperienced poolers still have a fighting chance against the seasoned hockey Pooler.

The Season will start recording points on October 14th after the season has started to see how the players will be throught the season, and so that we can get people to join over the Thanksgiving Holiday.

the Hockey pool has been set up for free on a website called www.pickuphockey.com. it looks promising.

**FUN FACT** $10 Donations are eligible for Tax credit receipts that get e-mailed directly to you. even if we arrange other payment options.

Thanks For Your Support!

New Routines and New Plans

well September is a strange month to start new things, and aim for new goals. Then again, it makes sense. Im in construction, and all summer we have been working on a high school in thornhill. and as you can imagine the deadline for the project was the end of august. we completed the project on time, and so tomorrow we start some filler work before we get out next big project.

Also, Amanda starts school, and will no longer be working as the receptionist for the (same) construction company. so there is going to be some adjustment with social lives and such as well.

i think all this change is good. its just a matter of becoming accustomed to the new routine, and trying to fit in bike rides and proper workouts.

this was one of my best summers ever. i had a lot of time spent with friends, going to concerts and hanging out as well as running a successful construction project with very minor hiccups and deficiencies.

either way, i am excited to get started on the new routines from here.

Thanks for the Support.
